I can't imagine putting orajel on anything that's still healing with stitches that would really burn so any other ideas besides Motrin/Tylenol and ice packs.
My daughter had a nagging toothache and stopped on the way home for Oragel.
She ate dinner and brushed her teeth.
Apparantly, she had an exposed nerve
and. She was in excruciating pain all night long. Next day she had an emergency root canal.
Be careful if you are going to use Oragel NOT to have nerve involvement.
Oil of clove works for cavities topically along with an NSAID.
Kim; WildCatVet has a very good answer but the liquid oil of clove many times behind the pharmacy should do a lot better than Orajel and you don't have to worry about the thickness of the gel. If you can't find a pharmacy try a store and look where the dental section is and grab the red cross tooth ache drops and that will work also and highly recommend get what you use most the time Advil or Motrin Generic and use one or the other to get the swelling down don't brush tonight. Call your dentist in the morning if it is this bad. I am so sorry this is the worst pain a person can get good luck.
So sorry about you're excruciating tooth pain.
Maybe you could call your dentist in the morning and see if they might have a dentist on call for the weekend?
The bigger the dentist practice the better your chances are getting a weekend appointment.
Also if your dentist cannot see you until the beginning of the week then maybe he could prescribe something to get you through the weekend?
Obviously, he couldn't prescribe a narcotic but maybe he could get you started on an antibiotic which will eventually make the tooth drain thus making the pain not so severe by the time you're able to see him?
Hi. I just got dentures 3 months ago and I had terrible pain for my first 4 weeks and found out that I had 3 dry sockets. In this time my family and I went on vacation and I thought I was going to die from the pain. Orajel and that benzodent gum stuff didn't do anything for the pain. My dentist was horrible and didn't care as why should he he never experienced this kinda pain. Non of them do! I've about orderd every single kind of denture adhesive from Secure to Fixodent and they all made matters worse with my dry sockets. That adhesive got stuck in my sockets!! I did finally get relief from a liner that I bought online called Comfort Grip lining and used that and it really helped tremendously! Now I have the mini implants so I don't really need additional adhesive but some days the implant on my right side hurts and I add a dab of that comfort liner and it will alleviate the pain right away since it cushions the area.
Thankfully my new dentist was able to do a payment plan for the mini implants I kinda feel like a normal person with teeth now. But I feel your pain and my only help that I can give you is buy that stuff I used. It's not a numbing cream it's a rubbery like cushion material and needs to be heated that is what gets it soft. Hope I helped. Much luck to you.
