I have an opoid addiction/dependance. For the last 5 yrs I have taken many opoids for legitimate severe back problems which I have had surgery. Actually I'm not horribly concerned cause I feel if it helps me get out of bed and get through the day it is worth it. I am thinking of getting off of them to see how I feel. I suspect I will feel worse since I'm still in pain even with the drugs. My question is how do I know if I should check into a facility or attempt to quit using with the help of something like suboxone.

You may be able to just taper slowly off the opoid and see how you do. If you would like to investigate further the treatment aspects try the following sites:
The second link above has a toll free number you can call to talk to a counselor and ask questions plus locate facilities.
How much opiate are taking daily? If you are determined, a slow taper maybe all you need. You would avoid the withdrawals, the expense of treatment and would be able to determine if the pain is resurfacing.
I'm here to help anyway I can.
