Continued from above... I was using a mix of 10/325 vic and 7.5/500 perks 4-6 day and more if I was out or drinking. I have only gone through one day of withdrawl before today and it was horrible, so I always made sure I had enough to not run out. I am ready to quit and want to do it the fastest way but at hour 28 today I took a half of a vic 10. It really took away the anxious, restless arm and leg crap that is the most bothersome for me. I am getting really nervous about sleep tonight because last time I WD I couldn't sleep only 5-10 min at a time.
I did a CT off prescribed Oxy, and suffered depression as well. Please see your doc about this, as depression is nothing to muck about with.
Antidepressants can really help you. You may not have to take them for long though.
Take hot baths for your restless arms. Are you sleeping? Eating?

What are you withdrawling from? I usually recommend that a person taper rather than cold turkey, but since you are already into it I will encourage you to hang in there. I can't estimate the length of withdrawl time since I don't know what opiate you were taking.
Cymbalta is for depression, but it doesn't act immediately. It can take as much as a month before you get the full benefits, and by then you'll be through the worst of the withdrawls. Antidepressants whether prescription or herbal don't act immediately.
The Thomas Recipe that you spoke of is a good list of OTC remedies to take care of the symptoms of the withdrawl. In fact, that is about all you can do, treat the symptoms and hang tough for several weeks.

Good Morning Laurie and Lemon and anyone else keeping up with this post. I slept through the whole night!!! The sleeping pills and pm cough syrup worked, besides the fact that I was exhausted. Oh and I took a 20 min hot shower before bed also. Im suprised to say that I feel pretty good this morn, I am achey and my stomach hurts with a little head ache but other than that pretty ok... Just took my Recipe pills with a bowl of corn flakes (which is all I ate yesterday) and am feeling pretty positive. I am so grateful for the help that you guys gave me yesterday. I was affraid to post but somehow knew that I needed to reach out for some help. I am more determined than ever and am proud to say that I have only took one 10mg vic since Thursday at noon. whoohoo!
Glad to know you got a good nights sleep. You are going to have to hang tough if your going to continue the cold turkey or some mix there of. But I think you have the determination and a sense of humor that will definitely help. Keep up the faith and keep on posting. Thanks for keeping us posted.
Be careful with all the OTC remedies and supplements. Don't want you to over do them either. Only take as prescribed and if you are going to continue the 5HTP it should help the reslessness and anxiety and depression and insomnia from what I read. Never taken it myself.
Holy Mood Swings... I just took a 5vic because I am in agony. Beginning to think that cold turkey can be pretty dangerous. I went from zero to 10 in a short time this morn and am having crazy mood swings. Sick of feeling like U know what. I knew this would be hard but really fed up right now. Good luck to everyone going through this, and don't give up. I guess we have to do it at some point so might as well get it over with now. Angry at myself!
Hey guys... Just woke up from a major nap (2hrs) How long was it before you got some energy back. For a long time I have been controlling my sleep, mood and energy with pills. Not sure if you know what I mean here, having a hard time explaining it. In other words if I had something to do or something was going on and I was tired. I would just take pills so that I felt like doing it and had energy. Been doing that for a long time so I guess im just a little nervous about being without them.
Im feeling a strong urge to use... took a 5 vic at 3:30 and actually felt a little high from it. Been cleaning and making dinner since, now my legs are really sore and am feeling like crap. Actually started looking through places for pills cuz I want to take one bad. Also thinking about having a beer. Is this normal?
I want to encourage you to stick to the taper plan. Take the three 5 mgs a day for a week, then drop to 2 5 mgs a day for a week, then to 1 5mgs for a week then every other day if need be. You would be done with all this in little more than three weeks. Sound like a plan? You can do this, I promise.
Update... This is day 4 of my Cold Turkey/Taper off Opiates.. It has been a long 4 days to say the least. I can't believe how time goes so slow when ur in misery. LOL I have decided to go with the taper because the ups and downs of the cold turkey was too much. I want 28 hrs the first day with nothing and had severe WD's. I then took a 5mg vic and it took me out of the severe WD's a bit. I then got some great advice about Tapering and so My plan was to start with 3-5's a day (I was taking approx 50mg's day or more) so this is quite a drop to start with but I am very determined. The second day I stuck to the plan and had an ok day with ups and down. Took hot shower before bed with Tylenol PM and a shot of PM cough syrup. Slept 8 hrs which was great! Day 3... Had a pretty rough day, started out on my planned taper but started haveing pretty severe WD's around 6pm. The craving were pretty bad so I decided to have a beer.
I then took another 5 vic which was not planned to take till 9pm. Ended up having 4 beers then took my 9pm and night time stuff and went to bed. Slept 8hrs again. whoohoo... This morn woke up with a great clarity that I havent felt in a long time, just felt good. So I decided to wait to take my morning pill till I had WD's. Had some energy so I did dishes, made breakfast and puttered around the house. (a tip that worked for me is that when I felt like exercising I cleaned the house. Gives you good exercise and makes me feel good to see the house in such good shape. Better than walking around the yard.) At noon I was headed into some bad WD symptoms. I then took my morning pill that I should have taken at 8. Felt so bad that I laid down and fell asleep for 2hrs. When I woke up I felt pretty good again so then took my afternoon pill to put me back on my 3 aday Taper. Today I have the sweats and my legs ache but I can handle that. so as of now doing pretty well, feel ok and the clarity is just cool! Not sure how to explain it but its like being out of a fog. So pretty proud of where I am, Im not a patient person so I tried to rush it but thats not going to work for me so Im going to stick to my Taper plan. Hopefully after day 5 I can go down to 2-5mg vics a day and chug my way to being completely clean. I thank everyone for the support and especially my 2 angels... They have been there for me when I needed someone who really understood what I was going through and Im forever grateful... Ill post again with more updates, good luck to everyone who is going through this journey however you choose to do it. The point is, you are doing it!!!
