Hello, this is my first question on here. I suffer from chronic pain living through car wreck that killed three others breaking a bunch of bones in me. A brain virus that made me have to learn to walk and falling a lot and smashing my hips and spine. There is more with shoulders and my knees. My question is I was put on opana ER 20 mg and am liking it. But it has made me weak and off balance and my balance is already messed up. I also have break through pain. What about Oxycontin does it make you loose your balance and weak? This is my first time on a extended release med.
I would love to help, but I really don't know..I am sorry you have been through so much... The first time I heard about Opana was on here. Oxycontin, for me , was like the strongest vicodin you could ever take..I only had a script for 10 after surgery, so wasn't on it long, but i know it works..diddn't make me dizzy though, but I don't know anything about Opana. check the drug to drug interactions checker here and put in opana and oxycontin, and see what the side effects are together..wish I could help more... good luck
Kinda hard to determine since everything works differently for everyone. I've tried practically everything under the sun and yes including oxycontins all the way up to the 30's but the main ones I was on for so long on the oxy's were the 10mgs. I ended up replacing that extended release with the Fentanyl patch 25mcg. U change it every 3 days/72 hrs. Then I changed the ton of Portage that I was on for Opana 5mg IR. Instant Release. I'm still on the lowest mg Cuz u r allowed up to 6 a day.I went uptown 10 mgs&I felt like I as taking a placebo pill&was in so much pain plus you're only allowed 4 of those a day but that wasn't why I was in pain Cuz I tried 6 of those too&it didn't make a difference.I went back to my pain management Dr&had him give me my 5mgs back. I've been on em for several years and the key is to try your hardest to not continue going up&up on mgs. You'll get immune to em just like all narcotics after a period of time but if u do that they'll just help less&less plus think ahead2the day u might be able2get off them&how hard it'll be if you keep going up&are on some very high dosages. So I've found that Opana instant release (IR) for breakthrough pain is the best and the Fentanyl Patch which is also Morphine but its extended release for your ling acting and while you sleep plus its one less pill you have to remember to take.Just 10 patches I. 30 days.If u r already on opiates/opioids then if u ever started on that patch, 25mcg would be about right for u.U could always start at the 12.2 or 12.5's whatever they are but I remember getting the 50mcg at first and they were too much so I had to go down to the 25mcg and its just right even tho um in constant pain anyways from a failed backed surgery syndrome.Had a anterior Interbody 3disk lumbar fusion through the front and have been 100 times worse ever since. Can't lay on my back or sit in a chair since my fusion which was 2 years &9 months ago. Only can for about 5-10 min and had my first surgery(Laminectomy)
in 2006 but pills, drs, scans, cts, mri's,epideral, discogram (which I pray none of u have to have, but all started
in 2005. Hope something outta this info has helped
