I have been on Invokana but because of an almost constant vaginal yeast infection, I had to stop taking it. I have been taking only Metformin, which is free, but I've gained back the weight I lost on Invokana and need another drug to supplement my Metformin. I am happy for those of you who can use the Value Cards and the coupons and only pay $10.00 a month, BUT I am on Medicare and these cards and discount programs exempt Medicare patients and anyone on a Government Insurance Program... ie: Medicaid, etc. My question is, WHY are these drug companies not helping those who need help the most... like elderly people on a fixed income and on Medicare? This makes NO sense to me. My cost for Onglyza, for a 90 day supply is over $1,000.00. Do the math !!!
Until they fix that glitch in the medicare rule, we're screwed. There is a reg that medicare cannot negotiate price and this helping us falls under that. We need to flood the white house with emails and letters about it. Until then we have to stick with the older cheaper meds. I take all generics to avoid all the expensive stuff. Do you have a Walgreen's near you? I'd talk to them. Sometimes if you join their club which is only 20 a yr you can save a huge amount of money. Does your part D pay any of it?
