I have literatly had only one dose I was prescribed it yesterday and took my first dose last night (8:30 pm). At first I felt this over-whelming feeling of exhaustion to the point of I couldn't even get up on my own. As it came time to lay down I just could not sleep, and I have yet to sleep, it is well over 12 hours since my first dose, and im not sure if I should take another one. I am prescribed one every 8 hours.
sometimes that class of medications are not effective for sleep. they are meant only for anxiety and so they do not last because they are meant to have a suddent effect for a shorter time period. none of the benzodiazepines (commonly referred to as benzos) have been helpful for my insomnia over the years, including: xanax, klonopin, valium, ativan. I do however, take them for anxiety. some sleep meds I'd reccommend are: trazodone, clonIDINE, or restoril. do not even bother with ambien, lunesta, sonata--they are a joke. im currently on a high dose combo of trazodone and clonidine and it's been great! after so many years of looking for the right insomnia and night terrors treatment, Success! Hope this is helpful. I'd mention these i've reccommeded to your dr. if you are not happy with your current insomnia treatment--couldn't hurt.
I take it for an over-active stomach. I've seldom had sleep problems, so I can't answer your question. I do suffer from anxiety, which sets off my stomach. I do okay, walk hounds, work out-side, last week a friend and I loaded up about 1.5 tons of river rocks-weighing from 3-15 lbs each. I kept up with my friend on the first load, but after unloading it, I was only able to load one rock to every 3 my friend loaded. Not bad for a 69 year old female-on the small size. I'm sorry that it affected you this way. I hope that by this time, you've talked to your doctor, and are trying something more effective. g
