Hi, jody,

In case you are confused by the first two answers, I checked here on drugs.com and it is Prilosec which can be by prescription or otc used to treat acid reflux - GERD. Since symptoms of GERD can be the same as a heart attack, always be sure you know the difference.

All the best,
Tony

I have taken both. Omeprazole is sold OTC generically, and as Prilosec. But if the prescription says "40mg," it is sold by prescription ONLY.
