I took sertraline for 6 years, most of that time at 100mg per day. I think it really did help me but I thought I wanted to try life without it so I tapered off very gradually over about 3 months and now have been not taking it for 4 months. Trouble is, I've been feeling anxious and depressed and the social phobias I suffered from seem to be returning. However, I am in a bit of a stressful time so maybe that's to blame.

Should I give up and go back on sertraline or should I persevere - perhaps I'm still in withdrawl? I really don't want to have to take it for the rest of my life (I'm 55).

Thanks for any thoughts.
