At the moment I feel some relief in finding something concrete in solving my 35 year history of mental illness. Any comments accepted and I will "vote up" the ones that help me the most. Could be you want to share any of the following; was it you or your doctor that decided you have this affliction? have you had success in dealing with this and what are the meds? how about dietary supplements? Not looking for the magic bullet I have grown to know better and please no snake oil salespersons. Be positive.
Thanking all in advance
Morning DJ; THIS CONDITION OCD, MANY DON'T NOTICE BECAUSE THEY MAY BE TAKING A SSRI MEDICATION OR SOMETHING VERY SIMILAR AND MANY OF THEM ARE PRESCRIBED FOR OCD,DEPRESSION ARE THE SAME MEDICATIONS Please keep that in mind and when they are taking one of those medications have no idea that they are having problems with OCD But to make sure you should really verify with the doctor and it may be as easy as adjusting your medication or changing it to one that helps with Ocd also. FORGET DIET OR HEALTH SUPPLEMENTS IN ALL MY YEARS HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANYTHING EVEN CLOSE TO GIVE YOU RELIEF. Talk with your doctor for the best results and you are a jump ahead because you figured it out. It's a matter of catching yourself of always double checking things or going back home to see if the door is locked burner on. or feeling dirty all the time or obsessed with washing hands or touching other people it show its head in many ways. I really feel you would be best to start with your doctor this is a very controllable condition. Give it some time and you will find that out. Chuck1957
All my siblings have one of two types of OCD; one is absolute order or it induces panic or anxiety and one is messy but certain things just have to be absolutely clean. I hate touching other dirty people and carry alcohol hand sanitizer with me in case I have to shake someones hand or use a public restroom which fills me with dread. It wasn't hard to work out and my doctor did not disagree that he found some of the behaviour a bit extreme. Well, he indulged me anyway.
