I have had my period since I was 9 years old, I'm about to be 25. I have not had a regular period since about 12. I was told 6 years ago, I "probably" had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome by two doctors, both of which, never took any tests to verify the assumption. Finally, 2 months ago, the nurse practic. drew blood and it came up the I do not have PCOS... I am on Aviane to regulate my menstrual cycle, but am curious, what else could be the culprit? My weight has gone down over the past year, 55lbs! :D But, the last 3 months, it has stayed the same, and there were 6 month increments throughout my teen and youngn adult years that my weight has stayed the same - so I don't think it's weight fluctuation... Any suggestions?
Not knowing what your insurance or money situation is, if there is a board certified Reproductive endocrinologist in your area, have them run your bloodwork as any hormone imbalance could be the culprit. Not just a dr touting that he is a fertility dr, you want a board certified reproductive endocrinologist. You are one of the only girls I have ever heard of losing that much weight on the pill, congrats, it always added a few for me. I use one of these type drs as I have always had something off in one or more of my hormones. They would be more apt to really know what is going on. I wish I could give you a better answer, but I can't, but this type of dr can.
