above our home, so I assume that the small red bites on my Scottie are from them. Can I put Gentocin on them? Help!
Your veterinarian can help - there may be need for daily antibiotics to start in case of infection and also the doctor may prescribe a weekly and/or monthly pill to help prevent a flare. Sometimes even after riddance of the mites from the dog, the dog's skin can have a hypersensitive reaction and irritation continue without mites present - the meds can help calm the skin so it's not in a hypersensitive state anymore.
You should also enquire about a bug/tree service to try and rid the mites if possible - it likely would be an ongoing need but usually the visits are less frequent after the initial problem is under control.
