... expire until January 2016. Is it still safe to use? Also, I had protected sex but the condom broke and I was going to get the after pill but I am contemplating inserting a nuvaring as I need to be on birth control. Is it safe to use the nuvaring I have, or should I get the morning after pill? So confused!!
Nuvaring is not going to protect you for sex you have already had but it can protect you for future sex. It takes seven days to work. You can try taking Plan b then start yourself on Nuvaring again but be sure to use condoms for the first seven days. Condoms should always be used with spermicidal jelly or foam. The purpose of the spermicide is to kill any sperm that may leak through a microscopic hole or in case of breakage. Spermicide is not effective enough on its own but it can greatly increase the effectiveness of condoms. Condoms alone are not as effective because there is breakage and possible holes to consider. You would be much better off starting Nuvaring again if you are planning to be sexually active. make an appt now to get your prescription renewed so you are not stuck starting over again if you'd used all the rings you have before getting to see your doctor.
