I have patellar femoral syndrome 4 months now. I meant to say DOC SAID it Will sedate ME, which will not fit for my life.
Neurontin is used a lot for nerve pain. I have taken it and had to stop it gave me a severe headache and didn't stop my pain. you might try it and see and if that doesn't help I would ask about hydrocodone they work well for moderate to severe pain. hope you feel better and this info was helpful
Hello. Gabapentine does not sedate me. I think all one can do is try it for a couple weeks and see if it helps. Since it only affects nerve pain, if it is not working then it is not the nerve pain of neuralgia. You may have a pinched nerve or some other abnormality. It may not get all the pain but it will reduce it to tolerable. I do know that staying busy, reading, writing, hobbies, work, helps one stop focusing on the knee. You know this because when you get up you get that sudden a jolt of pain which is intense because the pain went to the background while you were busy.
The key to pain management is not to expect it to be totally gone and you are a kid again. Expect it to be tolerable. Meditation, swimming, non weight baring exercise will be helpful getting blood flow better as this causes pain as well.
Wishing you better results and less pain, karen
