Got new Novolog flexpen pens but wasn't able to refrigerat until 40 minutes later, will they still be good, or do they spoil if not referigated right away
The insulin does not spoil, what happens is the potency of the insulin diminishes and if the insulin becomes too warm the process begins and you will end up with insulin that will be usless. As long as the insulin was returned to a refrigerator in a short time you should be ok, there is no way to tell if you didn't keep it cool enough. The way I get my insulin from the pharmacy is to carry a cooler with ice in it to pick up my insulin. Yes, it's a bit of a hassle but it keeps me with peace of mind and I don't have the worry of loosening all of that insulin.
