I am a Type 1 Diabetic and I take Humalog 3-4 times a day and Lantus once at night. With my current insurance, Humalog is $251/bottle and I'm looking for a generic. Can Novolin R be substituted? Can anyone advise?
No. It works faster than R. Novolog is relatively equivalent, not novolin r. You would have to discuss it with your dr. Novolog is cheaper. You can also save money by using a multi dose vial rather than the pens. If you don't have medicare, the manufacturers have some assistance too.
Norton; Kaismama has already answered this perfect as always. But all of these are prescription only and can't be changed by anyone but the doctor. Talk to your doctor if the coupon thing does not work out about a cheaper one and you never bounce back and forth with the brand of Insulin that you get somewhat stable on. Chuck1957
