UOL' as with many of the medications in this class or group of medications that have been out for longer than most, They are used for many different things and it's a good choice, unlike many medications that are hard to get off of. This is a mild anti-depressant and the biggest side effect is drowsiness but also many people that suffer from lack of sleep gets a benefit of a boost from the antidepressant effect during the day. Hi, Nortriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant which can be used off label for other reasons, such as insomnia and/or pain. I used to take Amitriptyline (which is in the same drug class) to help me sleep, and it was very successful.

Also, the main thing is to continue to take it and about the same time each night, If you are having any problems let your doctor know sometimes they may need to increase the dose or try another one. Chuck1957
