... trach, anyone else?
Had a chronic cough for 8 years. Doctors decided it was acid reflux coming up into the throat area & doing damage. I took every acid reflux medication they make. They did not stop the cough. I had several gastrointestinal studies done. Nothing abnormal found. Finally bought a book on amazon called 'The Chrinic Cough Inigma.' It mentioned a neurologenic cough (if lungs were healthy). It said the 'gold standard' drug for 'neurologenic cough' was amitriptyline. My doctor & I tried amitriptyline & it did not help. Doctor said she wanted to try a drug in the same family 'Nortriptyline.' Stopped my cough in the first 2 days after 8 years of coughing. I hope this helps & I recommend the book mentioned above.
