I recently visited my gynecologist as I'm considering switching to an IUD (less hassle and more peace of mind). I've been on Alesse for about a year and, when I mentioned to my doctor that I have cramps the week before my period starts, she said that I shouldn't be getting them, as the pill keeps your hormones at about the same level and it may be that it's not working all the way for me.
At the time, I didn't think twice about it as I was focused on getting info for the IUD. But now, I am concerned. Does this mean that it is not as effective? My main concern is being protected against pregnancy, of course. Does anyone else experience cramps on the pill?
Any info is appreciated!
