I have tolerance to narcotic pain meds, really hurting.
Yes, this is perfectly normal for it to take time for the patch to start providing pain relief. Do you change it every 48 or 72 hours?? If you change it every 72 hours, it takes 3 applications of the patch (so it will take 3 x 72 hours) for the drug level to reach a steady state level in your blood. Once this happens, you should THEN notice some degree of pain relief. Hope this helps.
Depending on what you were taking prior to moving the patches it could be that the dosage is too low too. However rather than just jump up a level before they have really worked their way into your system over the first week of use consider taking a low dose of your old pain meds if you still have some left assuming they can be taken together.
