Is it possible to have everything look normal on an EMG and other nerve tests but still have sciatica pain? My doctor cant figure out why i am having so much pain and numbness in my right leg since Nothing showed up on my nerve tests. He says maybe its muscle spasms? I don't know. I mean I can look at a diagram of where the sciatic nerve is and that's exactly where my pain is...
If they figure it out, please post the results. They label my problem peripheral neuropathy. I have pain radiating like a heartbeat with alternate hot/cold and numbness. Left leg mostly but both occasionally. Almost intolerable sometimes even with Methadone. I am supposed to get by on 40 mg. per day, but it takes 100 to alleviate the agony. Thank heaven I don't need it every day. I'm not stupid, though, I know I'm functionally addicted, but lucky in that 24-36 hrs without medication is tolerable. I used to be a recreational user, so I'm guessing karma caught up with me. Although my doctor says that's the wrong way to think. In this time of paranoid providers, I'm just glad I get anything. What a weird world we inhabit. The extreme is the new normal. Must be a religion thing. I sure don't get it.
I have had that pain for the last 45 yrs. Now it goes down both legs tho. There is nothing wrong with my back. Fibromyalgia is causing it.
