My dr wants me to do this for a week because I'm underweight
Thank you friends
The minimum calorie intake for an average woman is 1200. Your doctor did not tell you how many calories he wanted you to get daily? I'd love to be in your shoes where I can eat what I want and as much as I want. Enjoy it while you can. Calorie intake is not an absolute number for everyone. It depends on your target weight (up or down), your gender, age, activity level, exercise routine. For this week, I wouldn't worry about how many calories you are getting or should get. Just eat foods that will not give you an immediate heart attack. Also, my dad always drank Ensure with every meal. He was underweight, too, and it actually helped him gain a little. Good luck and I'm jealous (as I munch on my carrot stick! Ugh!)
To gain weight you will need to push up caloric intake so I would shoot for 1500-2000 calories depending on what you are taking in now. A good way to help add extra calories is with Ensure or Boost (or any product like this) in addition to meals. You can drink a shake with each meal and add one at bedtime as well. The high protein ones would be best in your case as long as you are healthy other than being underweight.
