Nerve block given in neck before surgery on right side. Wore off on right side that night. Left side completely numb shoulder down to fingertips. Its been 2 weeks. Pinched nerve? How long before something needs to be done.
No it's definitely not normal for the other hand to still be numb.
Is the non shoulder/hand painful or swollen?
Also which hand is your dominant hand. By that I mean are you using the numb hand enough?
Before I rushed off to the doctors I would try to do some gentle isometric exercises with the hand/shoulder that wasn't operated on.
Try gently squeezing your fingers together and make a fist 10 to15 X three times a day. Then gently try lifting the non-surgical arm up to your head then lower the arm down beside your hip. Again do this 10 to 15 times a couple of times a day.
Remember thought PAIN is an indication to stop.
If you still have total numbness then I would put a call into the surgeon or your general practitioner and have it looked at.
