... liver dis. i am so lost-- i need to order cook books on how to eat and more info on this. need to lose weight. i am at 204 pounds as of right now... any help would be great... and ideas would be great
I was diagnosed with the same thing, and my Dr. placed me on a "plant-based diet." This basically means no animal fats, but fruits, nuts, grains. Instead of milk, you drink coconut milk or almond milk (let me tell you from experience that almond milk is "think" so it's a gross consistency when you're expecting a milk replacement. Unsweetened coconut does a really good job of it. It's not necessarily vegan or vegetarian, but you do end up eating more that way due to the elimination of animal fats. When I first started showing signs of liver damage around ten years ago, I asked the ultrasound technician what it meant? She responded that she had seen worse livers on people whose only excuse was McDonalds (I was an alcoholic with hepatitis C at the time). I actually ended up becoming a vegetarian by accident but do well with olive oil over animal fats (presumably more complex fats) but still consume a degree of fat from full cream milk (3.9% fat); I love dairy.
