... years. Never got my period. I did have spotting here and there but rarely. Over the last couple of months I have been more sexually active with my boyfriend and we do not use any other protection. I have been getting my period, 4 days a month and I just find it so odd. It's like I am getting regular periods. Is my implant not working or is this normal? Could it be a sign I'm pregnant ? Please help.
Hi Pao, a host of hormonal side effects are quite normal with Nexplanon, after 2.5 years or when the implant is close to expiry, blood hormone levels related to Nexplanon fall and your body's natural cycle may start to reassert itself. That is no reason to be concerned however as Nexplanon is an incredibly effective form of birth control and the manufacturer claims a pregnancy rate of just 15 in 10,000. If you are truly concerned, a simple pregnancy test will allay your fears.
