I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 11 yrs. ago and lupus 6 yrs. ago... dealing with both has been rough... some days I don't know which is causing what!!! I have had too much pain lately!! But then again even a little is too much some days!! I take dilaudid for the pain... have a high tolerance for meds... can anyone relate?
I had Lyme and after it was out of my system things actually got worse and my docs suspect that the Lyme caused my Fibro... so which caused which is a good question. Lupus and Fibro are so similar ... so i would suggest that like myself, i try to get my docs to focus on what we need to know in order to treat my symptoms, since neither of our (yours or mine) are curable. If tests or other conversations (about the origin of what is causing what) dont effect my treatment plan, then I really try to care anymore about the origin.
You mentioned taking dilaudid for pain... fyi... Lidocaine patches just became available in generic form, so some insurances cover that. I also pay cash to a compounding pharmacy which fills my rx for lidocane/ketamine/gabapentin cream ($90/month)... both the cream and the patches help when I am overwhellmed.
They also are now pairing acid reducers (like omeprazole -- which you can get otc since insurance wont usually cover it when combined wtih an rx of NSAID) along with any NSAID you might like to try long term. I use celebrex and omeprazole. It helps but i'm still in a lot of pain. Keep trying until you find what works:)
