Since I am in Virginia I can't help with any doctors, but I would definately tell my doctor if I had breakthrough pain on my med. Usually when one is on an extended release med they have something for breakthrough pain. He can't manage your pain if you aren't truthful. Its just a shame that we have to deal with the attitude we get from doctors. Chronic pain is enough to deal with. Unfortunately our society has come to believe that any chronic use of a narcotic is addiction. They are wrong.
Have you called your old doctor? Maybe she would take you back. I am sorry to hear of your troubles. Chronic pain patients are now being dismissed by thier doctors just because they are afraid to treat pain. What a mess. Sorry I don't have an answer for you I'm in Pa and pain management where I live is invasive procedures that the doctors make alot of money doing but the pt does not get the relief they need if meds are indicated.
Hey Owen, I'm so sorry to hear about your pain problems. Unfortunately, just down the street from you is the reason you can't find a decent PM. My best suggestion if you can, is to drive to Gainesville, (three hours), and go to the University of Florida pain clinic. Excellent doctors, and they are good to people there also. But the governor has made it almost impossible for a PM to help us by threatening to take away their licenses if they prescribe too much. ( who's to decide what is too much, an a hole gov??? ) Good luck, and I will try and find some connections in Tally and see what I get.
