... longer than a few months?
New on Brintellix. I do not know anyone taking it. Does anyone have a positive review or been on it?

I've been on 10 mg. for 11 weeks. At first I thought it was going to cure me but I'm at a standstill & haven't heard good reports on going up to 20mg. Luckily I am better & have had no side effects. I take in morning with food. RonMan will hopefully respond to you. He's the expert & is doing good. Really have to watch what other meds you are taking. Any other drugs with serotonin in them can cause serotonin syndrome? You do not want to go there. Overall the depression is better. I take Xanax also for panic attacks. So far I have to say this is the best AD I've taken. Hopefully it will work for you. I'm on here all the time if I can be of anymore help. New meds always scare us! Good luck! Sue
Thank you Sumo, but I am no expert. I have been on Brintillex for a while now and just had a doc visit two weeks ago. I will be staying at 10 mg. He is not pleased with the side effects at 20mg and reserves it for special cases.
Two things he has really been bugging me about; getting enough sleep and eating correctly. The sleep item was his number one. I cannot put too much importance on it. It makes a huge difference. I am on 10 mg of Ambien, with an option to use 20 if necessary. Make sure you get 7-8 hours of sleep every night.
The science on Brintellix is fascinating to me, but perhaps not to others. The important thing to note is that because it works on five serotonin receptors, you really have to be careful not to take anything else that works on serotonin. If you are doing so, please see your doctor right away. The PDA is very specific on this.
I get an upset stomach on a random basis, but no other real issues. I also get some random dizzy spells that have been tracked to not eating correctly. When I eat a lot of protein, I can go weeks without a dizzy spell (they last 2-5 seconds and hit HARD). Too many carbohydrates and I can get them every day. You body will be different, but you might look into this. I can explain the brain chemistry reasons, but I doubt you are interested. The reasons apply to any SSRI.
Oh, I have been on it for 8 months.
The last thing is that Brintillex does little to nothing for anxiety. That is not to say that lowering your depression symptoms does not improve your anxiety, but you may still need some help there. I take Ativan, while others are using Xanax.
Good luck and TALK to your doctor. If (s)he is a PCP or a GP, get a psychiatrist. This is their speciality.
I hope this helps,
I just started Brintellix. I was on 60mg of Cymbalta for a few years and was having strange heart pounding sensation through my entire body. My Dr told me about this new medicine with no or very few side effects. Right now I have a pounding headache and severe muscle aches and stiffness. The heart pounding is still here..Not sure what to do..On Klonopin 1mg a day and 200mg of Seroquel at night..I'm stumped on what to do next.
