62 yr old male - diabetic - cancer surgery with radiation & chemo caused neuropathy to kick way up & have problems sleeping. Half a 10-500 Hydrocodone lets me sleep. 30 pills lasts 3 1/2 months. I'm worried about addiction.
If hydro helps with pain and lets you get some sleep, and it lasts that long, I wouldn't think addiction would be a problem for you.
Any doc with an ounce of compassion would certainly understand and prescribe this for you.
Hope you are feeling better and cancer goes into remission!
With the way you're taking the hydrocodone, I would not worry about addiction. I used the pain med to help with sleep as well. What I did differently is use the med throughout the day too, every day for years-every 2hrs whether I needed them or not. That is when you worry about addiction, my friend.
If this works for sleep, then by all means don't worry and sleep well. You have been through so much and a good night's sleep will help to keep you well emotionally and physically.
sometimes especially given the information you have given it does not sound like you are using it other than to relieve your pain and to allow you some rest I can't find anything wrong with that, if your pain gets out of control and given the fact you do not rest then I know from experience you pay more than you have to give please take good care
no in my opinion. 30 pills that last 3 1/2 months is good. Some people take that much in 5 days for pain & then they can get addicted. Hydrocodone is also for pain but it works on a part of the brain that precives pain but can also relax you & helps you sleep as a side affect. You are only taking 1/2 of the pill. As long as you wake up in the morning if you need to take insulin or what ever need in the morning. If you seemed to be worried then just ask your Dr. the question but I think he will say it is Ok since you take such a small dose & it last you so long. Neuropathy is very painful & you havebeen through a lot with your treatments. Neuropthy cannot be cured so most people have to take something for the pain.
