... to work best? My pain is mainly around my torso. Worse at the waist but also around the rib cage. I can't wear a bra and any clothing that is semi tight around my waist is excruciating.
I take neurontin for nerve pain. Is there another drug (or drugs) that treat nerve pain? Which seems

I have also started having pain in my upper legs/groin area. Could this be from fibromalgia too?
I can relate to that. I started wearing the genie type bras. Walmart has a good one for 5.00. Elastic in all in waistbands too. I take gabapentin, I was on lyrica, but I had too many side effects and I think for me the gabapentin works better. If you don't feel its working maybe you need the dose increased. It has a high maximum daily dose.
Gabapentin is the generic for Neurotin, and it's very good for nerve pain. My hubby takes 800mg four times a day and it really helps him. I tried Lyrica, but the side effects it caused for me had my Dr taking me off of it. However, Lyrica is very good for nerve pain. I'm going back on Gabapentin as at least I had less tingling and burning in my extremities.
I was on nerouroten, gabapentin. Was talk it for several months. I begged doc to take me off. I have absolutely Zero memory of the day when I take it. Anyway. Idk if this will help. Just make sure you tell your doc EVERYTHING when you meet ro have sex ,wheather even if you must tell doc you or this friends of yours please I behind just please ask doc and then do your own research! Omhosh you'd never believe how much I have learned on just how filthy and understaff our prison is and then Oh idk!! Very tired. Good night. P.S. you can text tomorrow. And let me know why you think
Im a disabled vet and was put on gabapentin for severe nerve pain from a service connected injury resulting in spinal cord damage at t11/t12. If I sat down or stood stationary for too long I would get tunnel vision and nearly pass out from the pain. I was in school at the time, junior in college with a 3.95 GPA and my IQ was right on the line of gifted and genius (145) I could knock out an A grade scholarly paper/essay in an afternoon with little mental effort and give an oral presentation with minimal notes it just hurt like hell.
I took the gabapentin for about 6 weeks, closely following the correct dosages during the titration period. The list of side effects I had are moderate memory loss, confusion, dizziness/lack of coordination, and I would get short tempered/snappy. I have heard it compared to early onset alzheimers and the symptoms are eerily similar.
I told my doctor about the problems with the gabapentin and he suggested that I may have better luck with nortryptaline (another tricyclic antidepressant in the same class of drugs as gabapentin) and trusting his medical knowledge and experience I tried it the same way, following the dosage and titration exactly as prescribed.
I had the same side effects that I had on the gabapentin only many many times worse. I was afraid to drive anywhere because literally by the time I would get to the end of my driveway I would already have forgotten where I was going. I could not effectively convey a message while speaking or writing as the words that I was thinking were not what was coming out of my mouth and it was the same when trying to write. I couldn't even tell my dr what was going on. The words were not there. I was literally unable to communicate. After numerous appointments of random nonsense coming out of my mouth he threatened that I would lose my medical care if I kept wasting his time and VA resources "because there are vets out there that have real problems." I dropped out of school with less than a 2 point GPA for the quarter, I still have over $7k in debt for just that quarter. My live in girlfriend/best friend left in tears thinking that it was her. My garage was also broken into and the police told me that they were investigating me for fraud and they didn't believe there ever was a theft because of something I said in a recorded conversation. I lost well over $20K of insured stuff. If I had not already been disabled, it would have been inevitable that I would have lost what ever job or other source of income that I had and been evicted from my house. If it weren't for my dog during this time, I would have lost an argument with my .45 on more than one occasion. I ended up selling my guns to a pawnshop in an act of self preservation.
The only physical record of any of this is one line in my medical records stating that I didn't respond well to Gabapentin.
The reason Im replying to this is because of the reply that showed up prior to mine. I realize it is an old post but it is the best illustration I have seen that shows what would happen when I would try to either speak or write. Its been 4 years since this happened. To whomever posted this reply I hope you have found some means of relief and are doing better.

If these symptoms look and sound similar seriously, talk to your doctor. If they are unresponsive, don't ask to be taken off, TELL them that you are no longer going to take them and DEMAND that they give you the proper dosages to safely wean yourself off.
In reply to the original poster, Ive found that physical activity and a good whole food diet (no preservatives, artificial flavorings, colors, hydrogenated substances... ) with just a daily multivitamin does nearly as good if not better than *any* medication I have tried for the nerve pain and more importantly my quality of life is thousands of times better. If I go to a fast-food restaurant and eat a meal with a soda, my nerves go *haywire*. As far as clothing, I have found that soft loose fitting clothing with no seams or tags that contact the sensitive trigger areas work best. I usually look for soft cotton clothing. I rarely wear underwear and try and stay away from tight fitting clothes or anything made from a scratchy material. Anything similar to polyester makes me want to crawl out of my own skin and pilled up cotton or fleece is even worse.
