... so bad!
Its hard to say how long because it all depends on the person. I've been on it for 10 yrs or so. It's help me with my fibromyalgia but I also take it with a pain reliever. Neurontin was prescribed to me for nerve damage not pain relief. When I first started taking it it took about a 1- 1/2 weeks to kick in. Are you currently taking a pain reliever with it? It works better with a pain pill.
I started on gabapentin in Feb. I have 2 herniated disks in my neck which are leaking fluid which is pressing on the nerves in the shoulder causing pain and numbness in my arm. The doctor started me on 100 mg 3 x a day which was fine, but I couldn't sleep beacause of the pain. So now I take 400 mg, taking 2 at bedtime, it took over 2 1/2 months total for pain and numbness to go away. No side effects so far, no pain or numbness either. But this is just a band-aid for the problem. I am going to need surgery to take care of it. So it works differently on each person. It has helped me tho.
