I also take celebrex. I started taking them at the same time so I guess it could be either one. The stones started soon after I started taking these medications. So if anyone has any info on either of the drugs causing kidney stones please let me know.
Yes Neurontin can cause kidney stones as well as other kidney problems but it is extremely rare. It is actually more likely that the Celebrex is causing the kidney stones and the combination of the two meds would probably increase that risk.
With Celebrex there is a 12% risk of developing kidney stones in the first month and 44% from 1 to 6 months, then it declines but your age is the key here. It is much lower for those under 40 but older than 40 the risk is much higher (17.29%) and just it just keeps getting higher for each decade older. Looking at the statistics, the risk is 21.36% after age 50 and 55.25% after age 60.
This is answer is probably a little on the late side for you but maybe it will help others too.
