Hi, I am searching for anyone with or who knows someone with neuroleptic malignant syndrome. My uncle is 48 years old and has had special needs from birth and after many bouts of medication whilst the doctors struggled to understand what his specific condition was, he ended up with neuroleptic malignant syndrome which he had lived with for 20 odd years. He now lives 5 out of 7 days in a care home alongside others with special needs although we have never met or heard of anyone with the same condition. I've spoken to my step nana and she has admitted she would find comfort in speaking to someone with relation to the syndrome to see if there are similarities in the sufferer's symptoms and to see if they can help each other find ways to relieve the problems caused by the syndrome. She ultimately wants to know if anyone has ever overcome this as I know it has broken her heart all of these years to see him this way and I know she blames herself for letting the doctors put him on the medication when he was younger. If anyone could help I would be forever grateful! Thank you in advance :)
I have this. And I’ve pushed past most of all the symptoms myself. Nobody’s held my hand. Your loved one is a very very very lucky soul. You seem like an amazing person and thanks for reaching out. I am interested in seeing some of the symptoms that he’s going through still to see if I will one day actually live a life outside of bed at my parents home or if I’ll have friends again.
