... Lately, it seems to be happening more frequently. I have tried numerous things such as chiropractors, cymbalta, homeopathic with nothing working. I am at a loss and feel very down today
I'm sorry to hear about your pain and how it's getting you down. It's very strange to have it go on so long and I can't imagine what is causing it. Well, I have 1 kind of crazy idea... shingles tends to scar people, and if you have even a small scar, maybe one that you can't see, a little bit on the internal side of the skin around your eye, it could cause you pain as you move your eye because our eyes have very complicated movements, rotating in all directions and requiring our skin and eye muscles to twist and turn as our eyes twist and turn. Every movement we make with our eyes has a muscle that pulls it in the direction that we want it to go. That's a lot of muscles.
I say this because my son who had a serious eye injury in the military had to have a pediatrician head the team of surgeons doing his eye surgery and he had many surgeries to get the job he needed done. I was surprised that a pediatrician had to head the surgery. It was explained to me that a pediatrician had to know more than any other Dr. about eyes because of the complicated changes and progress that babies go through as their eyes are developing from birth. Ah, okay, I had 3 babies and never saw any of this knowledge in evidence. One of the surgeries entailed having my son's eye removed outside of it's socket and having his muscles that controlled it cut and resized and stitched up. Complicated. I just have to believe that pediatricians, not opthamologists, have this specialized education and that there's an incredibly complicated amount of muscle movement to keep our eyes functioning properly.
So that's my guess, just a possibility. I have scars, tiny ones, from my own shingles experience. I can only sympathize with you and hope that someday this pain will fade with time.
