Administered an IM injection for patient. Medication drawing needle used, switched to injection needle. Administered injection, went to dispose of drawing needle and injection syringe, no sharps in the room, while trying to recap to take to other room, drawing needle pricked finger. Needle did NOT touch the patient, only medication in vial. Should I be concerned with what I consider a clean stick.
If it was basically still pretty much without bacteria. You should be ok.
Fill out an incident report tho for a few reasons. Is is because if something does come of it your covered. The other is it was a breach in OSHA regs. You may need that they're going to say you broke policy however you recapped because there was no sharps container in the room.
