Hi I found out 8 years ago that I was born with one kidney. I am about six stone overweight and have recently been following a very low calorie diet. I have been feeling really well on it and am really enjoying it and it's working a lot better than other diets I have tried . Some people have been commenting that I shouldn't be doing it, what is your opinion ?
That does not make any medical sense to me. Metabolising and ridding yourself of the waste products of fat metabolism should be easier on the kidneys than protein waste I would have thought. I'd suggest stick to the diet as long as it is well balanced nutritionally. Blood creatinine levels and eGFR rates should be diagnostic for any potential kidney issue.
