I am flying to Florida next week and airplanes make me very nervous.
The best way to rid oneself from nervousness flying is to work with a therapist who works with anxiety and learn techniques to calm the self. This is certainly natural and goes wherever you do. :-).
Since the trip is soon, it really depends upon what you call nervous. Is it a phobia or just general anxiety? What normally makes you feel calm? A good book, cup of tea, holding someone's hand? Alcohol is trouble, so stay from that. Xanax works well. The smallest amount for a calming effect. (Be sure it is in the original bottle so it isn't recognized as a banned substance. Just take a few with you, not a full bottle. ) Xanax has a pretty short life.
You will be fine on the trip. Sometimes our anxiety starts talking to us before anything happens. And that is what gets us, not the event. Take a look at your thoughts and switch to positive thoughts. Decide if you want by the window or the aisle. Once you have some control of what you are doing, the anxiety lessens.
