By the way, I no longer have a Thyroid and am looking for an alternative to taking MEDS.
I just started Armour thyroid today. It's a natural choice coming from pig thyroid. It contains both T3 & T4 where Synthroid is T4 and synthetic chemicals. I was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer so have no choice but to take something. Synthroid made me CRAZY... shortness of breath, racing heart, palpitations, anxious, nauseous, headache. I specifically remembered a nurse from one of my surgeries saying she switched from Synthroid to Armour and felt so much better. My Dr. agreed to call in a script. However I have read not all doctors will as they do not think it's as good as Synthroid. However with having had cancer, I will be monitored closely so will Keep a very close eye on blood levels and they will also be doing Tg (globulin) tests & ultrasounds so if the med is not working we will sure know but I've read great reviews. My ENT surgeon wrote my script it was $24 full price/month, $17 with my insurance. However, I will have to wait 2 weeks to let Synthroid get out of my system fully to get rid of these side effects. I started Armour 60 mg today. I have an integrative/functional med Dr. Who said she uses this for her patients and likes the results so you may need to seek one of those types of doctors out to get it. It seems to be a controversial med because it's natural, it's not FDA approved which means many Dr's do not consider it a "real" med and it's also not going to give them any perks for writing the script or support the big pharmaceutical companies. But I'm willing to try it. Synthroid was horrible for me.
