I am 23 and I have my period all the time. My period may stop for a couple days or even a week every once in awhile but it always starts back up randomly at random moments. It's very annoying and inconvenient. It stops me doing things I want to and I constantly feel like I am lacking the energy that I should have. I don't have the money to go to the doctor. I was hoping there is some natural supplement that I can take to regulate it and make it only come once a month instead of all the time. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
I must say now that I am a male, so I can't honestly empathize with you. Please, heed this warning: any attempt to actually inhibit menstruation, or induce it, naturally, is too imprecise and frankly, dangerous. See a Dr.
One thing that can help that is relatively safe is Fenugreek seed taken daily. It helps improve iron uptake. Soak them in water until soft, or add it to high iron meal recipe. I'll check out some options with female colleagues.
I've done some research and the best things I can up with right now are herbs and spices you could add to your diet.
It's very important to keep your iron level up. As suggested earlier, Fenugreek is excellent for balancing blood sugar, increasing iron absorbtion and generally promoting female well being. Coriander seeds are also reportedly good for menstrual cycle regulation. Try to introduce these into your diet. I will continue research, but you must see a Dr.
p.s Don't drink tea with meals as this will decrease iron absorbtion.
Bearing in mind the warning about the imprecise nature of herbs, I have done some research and have narrowed down a list of herbs that have been listed as menstrual regulators. Although I have taken due care to screen out herbs too drastic, I would still recommend at least discussing this course of action with an own minded MD, or at least have ready access to medical services. The plants are;
Yarrow (Achillia millefolium) Flowers, leaves and stems,
1 to 2 teaspoons dried or fresh. Cover with 250ml boiling water and infuse for 10mins.
Rose, flowers and rosehips.
Fenugreek Seeds and Leaves.
Also, Red Clover can correct oestrogen imbalances, but more information is required for you to make an informed choice.
Again, try to find a Dr to supervise treatment, or at least make your GP aware of your approach. Good Luck.
