... pregnant. I'm so scared of the birth defects. I don't know if my baby is going to be okay. If there is anybody out there that has been through this please tell me about. Please my doctor would not say to much Please help me
Methimazole is not recommended in the first trimester only. I'm in a similar situation. I'm on PTU because it is safer for baby in the the first trimester but because of potential harmful effects to the mother, I will be switched most likely at 13 weeks to Methimazole. I literally just left an appointment Wednesday in regards to this. The doctor told me that the possible side effect of Methimazole is when baby is developing in first trimester they found that baby would be missing patches of skin on his/her head. He said it's not usually life threatening but still not something you want you or your baby to deal with.
