The proper name is Myofascial Pain Syndrome. It is a syndrome.

I have myofascial pain syndrome and it's a tough one to treat. I've had a number of trigger point injections (no steroids, just a little lidocaine to reduce the injection pain). Also I've had special myofascial release physical therapy which has been very helpful. And finally I find Lyrica to be really effective in reducing pain. And muscle relaxants are essential.
