... had 1 convulsion as a teen and just recently had 1 in Nov.,and am taking topamax, things were good for the longest time, now I feel like somethings changed. Maybe its age or hormones or both but, this convulsion felt different, even for a time after. I just dont know, any body got ideas. thanks
I also have myoclonic, petit mal , but I also have grand mal seizures. And have for 30 years. I am 44 now. Just in the middle of last year I started going through pre- menopause and my seizures started up again having around 3 a week. They had to add another med to make me stable.
I am not sure how old you, but hormones have a lot to do with seizures. I am thinking what you had was a type of grand mal , you could have stayed awake and still had convulsions. Be careful.
How old are you now? This last seizure was a grand mal? If it happened right around your period it very well could be hormone related. Are you under a lot of stress? That can trigger a seizure, as well. I am also on Topomax. I am here for you to help you figure things out. Or just to talk them out. I know how hard Epilepsy can be, especially when you have been seizure free for so long and then you have one. Don't forget~you may have Epilepsy but Epilepsy does not have YOU!! <3 <3
