My son will be starting on suboxene for the first time Jan.11th. I am so worried, this is all new to me. What should he start out with on dosage. It all is expensive but if it helps him it will be worth it. Morphine was what he was addicted to. I don't want the doctor to give him a high dose to begin with. I have been reading that it is a good drug but still nervous.
Dear Page, most doctors will prescribed at least 16mgs as the initial dose, I can tell you that that actually is too much, but, the doctor may insist on that much. It took about 2 full hours with me to reach its full potential, so, it may be the same for others. I tell people to wait 2 full hours before they decide they need more of it and they can take 2 mgs at a time, that is one quarter of a normal tablet. It is also going to depend on how experienced his doctor is on suboxone therapy. Please encourage you son to do the mandatory addiction therapy. You can read my profile to learn about my experience with suboxone, it will just be some info that will help you understand it. Click my name or avatar to read my profile story. Best of luck to your son. Patti
