My son was using ketamine as an ilegal drug for 5 years but has now been off it for 1 year and so has alot of youngsters around are area and now my younger son has started using and I feel ketamine is taken over my children and want to know if there are other parents having to deal with this problem as the doctors dont know that much about it but I do know its very dangerous and the side affects i know about are shrinking of the bladder, my son got a stomac ulcer, is there anything else i should know as want to know more and help my kids well they are 23 and 20 yr olds???
Any drug that gets used recreationally has the potential for abuse and I feel your pain, as one of my kids did a lot of drugs as a teenager. There are new studies that prove Ketamine is very effective for depression. I had an epidural for back pain, but when they knocked me out for the procedure, there was Ketamine in the cocktail they gave me for sedation. My depression has lifted for the first time since I was diagnosed. Everyone -- from my coworkers to my friends and family -- have noticed the change in me. I feel "normal" for the first time in 25 years!
I am having the same problem with my son it appears that ketamine is so much cheaper than alcohol and so easy to get hold of, my son has been using for a year which I know of and it is destroying our family, we have sent him away at his request as he said he cannot stop taking the drug. I am terrified as he takes it during the night at home whilst we are sleeping, I now cannot sleep, has anyone had any success with helping their families get off this dreadful drug. I have taken some advice from a drug counsellor and he said the only way they can stop taking it is if they want to, this is also the only time they can be helped, the bladder is a real worry as I am aware of my son's bladder being out of control when he sleeps.
