... speaking, walking and functioning. He states he is taking 4 (1lmg pills a day. ) the impact was immediate. we are concerned
I suspect given his symptoms that he is on too high of a dose of the clonazepam. The recommended initial dose is 0.25mgs twice a day and the maximum recommended dose is 4mgs for panic disorder. He should have been started on a much lower dose and slowly increased to target level. Are you sure he is folllowing the doctor's instructions?
I've never heard of a doctor starting someone on that kind of dosage for clonazepam, so I would suspect he's taking more than he's prescribed. Look at his bottle and read the instructions. Four 1mg doses of clonazepam per day is extremely rare. Usually it's two doses of 2mg or three doses of 1mg at most, but clonazepam is rarely ever taken 4 times per day.
Wow, my daughter has anxiety also and takes a half mg. once a day (only if needed) and that helps her. That is just way too high of a dose in my opinion. I've seen people take 1 mg. and they sleep for 12 or more hours and can't get up. I would get another opinion or ask the doctor. Maybe they wrote the prescription wrong? Good luck and please let us know how he's doing. :)
