which isn't necessary and now he has that stinkin thinnkin' again and just started w/the speed but has stopped after 2 days - shouldn't I get him off the suboxonre?
I am not sure if you mean the same doctor who prescribed the suboxone also gave him the xanax or not, but, if so, that is highly unusual. Xanax and suboxone taken together can cause repiratory failure. That is one thing that you need to check out and see if the same doctor prescibed both drugs. There isn't alot of info in your post about how much suboxone your son is on, or for how long he has been on it. It is a safe medication to take if it is taken correctly. How long was he on opiates before he was placed on suboxone? Does he seem to have major addiction issues? I have safely been taking suboxone for nearly 20 months, starting at 12 mil. daily and I have been tapered to just 2 mil daily and have felt fine and remained sober. I credit my support group as well for helping me thus far. If your son has had a strong history of opiate dependence/addiction, he may need to stay on suboxone for a while. Maybe you could give us some more info. Best of luck to you both.
my dr told me benzos opens the opiate door, so if your trying to kick opiate xanax is no good! iv been on subs controlled for about 8 months. i owe my life to it. alot of people stay on it for a long time i hope after a year they will at least cut me down from 16millis a day, i met a kid who has been on it for two years, somtimes i wonder if the dr. look at there sub patients as a paycheck:)
Your son is in active addiction. When you say speed i assume you mean uppers. Your son is manipulating the doctor and needs help but until he realizes this you need to take care of yourself. I take 2mg of suboxone and 4mgxr of xanax. the both can be a dangerous mix but like anything if you mix alcohol with benzos or if you mix benzos with opiates its a bad mix. The reports of respiratory failure comes with people with low tolerance and who iv the subutex or take very high doses of both together. Am i an addict(no) My drug seeking behavior and life has changed drastically since i have been in support groups, group therapy, see my doctor once a week and have a small buisness. The suboxone has done wonders for my opiate addiction which i work at everyday. I could of went on 3 8mg a day and 10mg of xanax aday but i been down that road and you learn or you dont and prison is not a place for a small pretty boy like me.
I have tried everything for my panic condition and a small dose of xanax prevents me from going to the er 4 to 5 times a month thinking im having a heart attack. I know I am physically dependant on this stuff, but i would take my life today with my family and friends and a place to live and a reason to get up everyday and not were im gonna get my next fix. I went off topic sorry. You know your son the best any you know where his mind is at and if he were my son(how old is he) i would commit him to a 90 day boot camp. Its better than going to prison for 2 years like me because of drugs and being afraid of getting rape around every corner and when the lights go out. Talk about panic and ptsd. Thats was 3 years ago and I still wake up with nightmares. I know you asked a question and i am sorry i just hate to see your son go down this road it sucks. tell him to come live with me and I will set things straight for him, with tough love, i dont believe you have to be broken down to be brought back up,just some tough love and trust and a small leash around the neck. good luck and again i apologize i went off, nothing personal with you but i really think your son needs an intervention that speed kills and i have seen alot of people ruined their lives forever from it.
