My son is 9 years old and has be prescribed Nuvigil along with Intuniv for ADHD?I'm concerned because what I have read about Nuvigil states that it should not be given to a person under the age of 17.
I have not had experience with the use of Nuvigil with someone under the age of 17, but I have taken it for over a year now. According to the literature which you probably have already read, "Armodafinil has not been studied in pediatric patients in any setting and is not approved for use in pediatric patients for any indication." I also looked up Nuvigil's sister drug Provigil and it is not indicated for patients with ADHD either. If it were my child I would be leary about using this drug given his age. There are alternatives which have been more thoroughly studied with children. I would discuss the possibilties with his doctor and bring up your concerns with Nuvigil.
