My insurance company has limited me on Calcium Channel Blockers to one pill per day. NIFEDIPINE only comes in 60 mg tabs. I need 120 mg. I see other Calcium Channel Blockers such as CARTIA XT, DILTIAZEM HCL and TAZTIA XT offering 120 mg tabs. Will one of these per day equal the effects of two 60 mg NIFEDIPINE tabs?
The dose of different calcium channel blockers are not equivalent ... so you need to take 60mg of nifedipine twice a day as directed. There are extended release forms of nifedipine but I'm not sure whether these are covered by your insurance.
If you only can have one tablet per day on your insurance then perhaps your doctor can put you on another long acting calcium channel blocker ... so that you only need to take one dose per day.
