He was taking approximately 150 mg of oxycodone a day for 6 months. He recently cut his doses this passed Wed to 120 mg, Thur 90 mg, Fri 37.5, Sat 30 mg; however, he experienced withdrawal from Friday through Sunday that he could not handle. On Sun he increased his doses back up to 75 mg and Mon 140 mg (60 mg were blue roxy and 80 mg were yellow extended release OxyContin). Yesterday he was determined to quit, so he went to the doctor and was given a prescription for Suboxone. The doctor told him to wait 24 hours after taking his last oxy before he started the Suboxone. He is now at 22 hours since his last oxy, but is only experiencing minor withdrawal (occasional chills and some light sweats, but otherwise he is feeling okay).

I want to mention he has been taking the supplements mentioned in the Thomas Recipe (minus the Valium) for the last week, first thing in the morning (3000 mg L-Tyrosine, 200 mg B6, as well as 100mg 5-HTP before bed) while he simultaneously tapered his oxy. What would cause him to not feel much of a withdrawal this time around? Is this normal? It seems like a miracle!
