I am 52 with heavy periods and sometimes 2 times a month so my gyno wants to put me on Alesse for a awhile but i am also on blood pressure meds my blood pressure is controled but i've heard its not good to take birth control with high blood pressure my obgyn says its not a problem because i dont smoke. So is it ok to take?
There is an increased risk to develop cardiovascular disease if you have high blood pressure and smoke.
(Birth control pills aren't recommended for women over age 35 who smoke because it increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.)
Your blood pressure will need to be carefully monitored while taking Alesse.
