she recently fell and has broken her leg she was told to take 2mg of valium at bedtime if she get's break through pain. The methadone dose is 20mg in am 10mg at noon and 20 mg at 6:00pm. Is it o,k, to take the 2mg valium at bedtime?
Who prescribed the Valium and do they know she is on methadone? If the doctor knows then I would give her the 2mgs but have her watched as it can cause respitory failure .
If it was prescribed by a doctor with no knowledge of her methadone use then definately do not give it to her.
Most times when you have someone that has a acute pain issue like this then they up the methadone for a few weeks. At her age I would think 5-10mgs more of methadone at bedtime would be much safer then vaslium. They just don't mix well and most [atients on methadone are never ordered benzodiazapines... Good luck and I hope she feels better soon... Dave
